Home-Start provides support, friendship & practical help to families with children from pregnancy up to 12 years of age. Volunteers are essential in helping to improve family life in many ways, such as;

• Supporting children's learning
• Helping to develop healthy lifestyles
• Supporting to access the local community and its services
• Improving isolation/ low mood/poor mental health
• Supporting routines and boundaries as well as promoting positive behaviour strategies
• Relationship difficulties
• Demands of multiple birth
• Disability and illness
• Dads perinatal mental health and wellbeing

All families have different needs an we help the family to identify these needs before matching them with a volunteer that will provide the best possible support.

All our volunteers...

•Attend a course of preparation

•Receive regular support, both during the course and after, when they are supporting a family

•Are offered the opportunity to attend on-going training and social events throughout the year

•All volunteers are given an individual learning plan to support the the transition into further education or the workplace.
